  369. I just got an HTX-202 myself. A couple of days ago I made a J-Pole
  370. antenna using the 2 meter dimensions found in the "Plumber's Delight"
  371. article in the April 1992 73 magazine (p16+). The parts cost less
  372. than $6.00 and the antenna works GREAT!!!!! Very easy to build, I
  373. highly recommend this project.

  410. Nope, sorry it's my fault.  Every time I align one of my radios,
  411. propagation dies.  The last really poor propagation coincided with
  412. aligning my R4-T4X.  This time I got my TR4 back on the air and
  413. realigned it.  Both times I thought I'd screwed things up since I
  414. couldn't hear any signals better than about S3-4.
  415.  
  416. Wonder how the Sun's corona knows what I'm doing?  Perhaps the next time
  417. I align a rig, I'll post a major geomagnetic storm warning.  Sure prop's
  418. getting better.  It's been several weeks since I've worked on any of my
  419. radios!

  479.     I can relate to this after witnessing several serious traffic accidents
  480. while traveling on IR70 between Dayton, OH and Washington DC. Either no
  481. monitors repeaters or wants to help, except on a rare occassion. Out of 
  482. approximately 7 accidents reported, I made one contact via Ham radio for
  483. help.

  505. What we have here is a classic example of the BS politics that dominates this
  506. country today. That is, the "Monday Night Quarterbacks" calling the shots
  507. after the incident to assign blame for the failure to secure their radio
  508. networks. My opion is Boyer saw a situation requiring clear headed thinking
  509. weighed and executed his options in methodical manner to a successful
  510. conclusion. However, the petty local and federal bureaucrats proably with 
  511. nothing better to do than screw with someone saw a golden oportunity to
  512. promote their careers by creating a mountain of paperwork that in the end
  513. will accomplish nothing more than to prosecute someone who tried to help
  514. another person in an emergency.

  517. lives were on the line next. Maybe the person who encounters them might
  518. say well...I cannot call for help because I will lose my license....so
  519. I guess I might as well walk 10 miles to my car drive to the nearest

  608. I have always found that when my TV picture on Channel 2 looks bad, 6
  609. meters is fabulous.  We can usually see Channel 2 from far away (either in
  610. the Milwaukee area or from across Lake Michigan) beating with our own WBBM
  611. in Chicago when sky-wave propogation is better than it ought to be in the
  612. 50 MHz neighborhood.
